Real Food, Real Health.

Since childhood, I have had an interest in cooking.  As I have grown older this interest in cooking has led to an interest in healthy eating and through a series of events which always included a passion for food, I have come to create this blog.  It will focus on real food, incorporating healthy living into real life so that you can live vibrantly.

Food is nourishing, food is comforting, food is delicious, food is joyous, celebratory, indulgent, satisfying, our best friend, our worst enemy, it is political, can be practical, or imply status.  Food is complex and we all have a relationship with it whether we care to admit it or not.  Some of us follow the latest diet craze including low fat, low carb, clean eating, vegetarian, vegan, the South Beach Diet, the Mediterranean Diet, the Paleo Diet, and primal eating.  Some of us follow no eating plan and merely eat whatever is available with little thought behind the processing involved in their food stuff.  There is a simpler way to think about food and it is to only think about real food.

Principle for Healthy Eating: Eat Real Food.

What does eat real food mean?  Real food is food that is close to nature, it has been minimally processed with no artificial preservatives or colors.  Real food comes from animals that have been treated humanely, never given any hormones or antibiotics.  Real food emphasizes organic vegetables and fruit.  Real food focuses on eating meat, poultry, fish, eggs, healthy fats like butter and coconut oil, vegetables, tubers, fruits, and incorporating beans, nuts, and grains sparingly.  Eating real food will unchain you from the blood sugar rollercoaster leaving you to feel satisfied and nourished.
